Updating versiondog¶
An update is used to import new features and changes into an existing versiondog system.
The following requirements must be met for an update to a new version:
- The hardware and software requirements must be observed. If these requirements are not met, the product cannot be installed correctly. The current hardware and software requirements can be found at Installation requirements.
- You do not need a new licensing for an update or upgrade.
- Regardless of whether the server archive is located locally or on a remote share, it must be backed up before an update. Proceed as described in the section Data backup and data restore in parallel server operation.
-
The server applications are updated with the installation wizard, which is started via the
Setup.exe
file. In parallel server operation, the setup must be executed for both servers. -
Server and client must have the same version, otherwise working with versiondog is not possible.
As soon as you start a client that has an earlier version than the server, the update of the client applications is started automatically. This functionality is referred to as SmartUpdate. Alternatively, the update of the clients can be carried out manually or via a script or an MSI package.
FAQ¶
Why does the update to versiondog 7.0.0 take longer?
