Maintenance mode module

Warning

The Maintenance mode module should not be used for data backup in versiondog from version 9.0 as this can lead to an inconsistent/corrupt server archive.

The procedure for data backup is described in the tutorial Data backup and data recovery.

While the server is in Maintenance mode, write access (= Check-In) to the server archive is prevented, but read access (= Check-Out) is still possible.

The system is automatically switched to Maintenance mode if the required minimum amount of free storage space is reached. This serves to prevent problems with Windows or the database system.

In parallel server systems, a server is also automatically switched to Maintenance mode if the maximum number of synchronization ToDos is exceeded and the corresponding other server in the parallel server set is not accessible.

When updating one of the servers in the parallel server set, it may be useful to manually put the other server into Maintenance mode.

Proceed as follows to manually set the server to Maintenance mode:

  1. Start the AdminClient and click on the Maintenance mode module.
  2. A security prompt is displayed. Confirm this with Yes.
  3. The following is displayed in the title bar of the AdminClient: AdminClient [In Maintenance mode]. The Maintenance mode module is highlighted in blue, all modules except System dashboard and Event Log are grayed out and are inactive.
