Synchronize jobs from the server to the BackupClient

Synchronize jobs regularly from the server to always have the current status on the BackupClient. Any changes to existing jobs are only transferred to the BackupClient through synchronization.

Prerequisites

  • The BackupClient and the versiondog server can be connected to each other.
  • Jobs have been created in the AdminClient on the server that are to be executed using the BackupClient. To do this, the Using BackupClient entry must be selected in the Execute dropdown menu in the Job configuration area.

Procedure

  1. Open the BackupClient and login to the server.

All components for which jobs have been created for execution using the BackupClient are displayed in the Project tree. All existing jobs for the selected component(s) are displayed in the job table. Jobs that are only available on the server and not yet on the BackupClient are grayed out and have the status Does not exist on BackupClient.

    Tip

If no components or jobs are displayed, select the Update from server button on the Extras tab.

  2. Select one or more jobs that you want to transfer from the server to the BackupClient.

Tip

To see synchronization details, use the Show synchronization log button. The information will be displayed later in the Event log.

  1. Select the Synchronize button in the menu bar.

Result

  • The synchronization is performed. The end of the synchronization is indicated by a message.
  • The current version of the component for which the job was created is always synchronized from the server to the client with the job.

Job configuration for different adapters

Users employing different adapters to access a controller (PLC) can either create a job for each corresponding adapter or change the access path in the Job configuration area (each time a different adapter is used) before synchronizing the job using the BackupClient. These two approaches can be used with adapters such as BH Link IP, S7 USB adapter, and the integrated CP 5611 from Siemens Field PG.
