Checking out components

The Check-Out step in the workspace navigation bar is automatically selected when you choose a component in the Project tree that is available only on the server and not yet locally. This is indicated in the Details area with the Icon error icon.

If the Details tab shows you with the icon Icon Different that the local version does not correspond to the version on the server, you can also check out the current version of a component that already exists locally.

Components can only be checked out if there is a connection to the server, i.e. the button Icon Server document above the Project tree is activated.

Procedure

Before Check-Out, you can choose between three different views in the Project tree.

  1. Select the component in the Project tree.
  2. If the component is not yet available locally, the Check-Out view is displayed directly in the workspace. If the component is already available locally and you only want to check out a current version, you must switch to the Check-Out view in the navigation bar.
  3. In the Check-Out view, select Check-Out in the center or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+O.
    The Check-Out dialog shows the progress and is hidden when the check-out is complete.
  4. The component is displayed in black in the Project tree and the icon is displayed in color. In the workspace, the Edit option is shown.
