Three image solutions: Recommendation for use and links to the tutorials

Image Service

This solution is recommended if you want to create images of your important PCs easily and without expert knowledge. The Image Service is fully integrated into versiondog and contains the required licenses and tools for image creation and recovery. You can easily and intuitively create and manage images of your PCs in the familiar way and quickly access them for recovery.

The Image Service allows you to create jobs to automatically create images at specific intervals. The images can be stored anywhere in the network. You can access the images required for recovery quickly and easily via the job results.

In addition to the actual creation of the images, the service provides information about the PC in question, the status and the capacity of the drive to be backed up.

If the hardware or operating system of a backed up computer changes during regularly performed jobs, a warning is issued that the old images on the changed computer may not be able to be successfully restored or may lead to an unwanted change. This information helps you to back up and maintain your company's PCs with foresight.

The Image Service can be installed manually or remotely, via an existing software distribution tool or via the included web installer on one or more PCs.

The Image Service can be purchased from AMDT for a monthly rental fee and is constantly being further developed and equipped with new features.

Image creation with Acronis Backup

This solution is recommended if Acronis is already licensed and installed and used across all departments. Otherwise, costs are incurred for the procurement of the Acronis license and effort for the installation of Acronis.

versiondog allows you to create jobs to automatically create images at regular intervals in the existing Acronis infrastructure and to back up data from multiple computers in parallel. The backed up data is stored in the defined Acronis file structure.

It is therefore no longer necessary to create, configure or manage jobs via Acronis. Backup jobs from Acronis Backup Management Server can be imported via an AMDT tool.

Image creation with Drive Snapshot

This solution is recommended if Drive Snapshot is already licensed and installed and used across all departments. Otherwise, there are costs for the procurement of the Drive Snapshot license and effort for the installation of Drive Snapshot.

versiondog allows you to create jobs to automatically create images with Drive Snapshot at regular intervals. The images created can be stored on a network drive or in the server archive. operating systems that are not supported by versiondog (Windows NT, for example) require PsExec in addition to Drive Snapshot to create images for.

The configuration of jobs for creating images requires the activation of the script functions on the server, the integration of Drive Snapshot and PsExec as external tools and the configuration of an upload agent. In addition, special Drive Snapshot command line commands can be used.
