Creating jobs

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. Select your Cognex component in the Project tree.
  3. Click the Create button in the ribbon or drag and drop the component into the Jobs area.
  4. Check that the Cognex Sensors upload type is displayed in the Job configuration area.
  5. Configure the general sections General, Notification, Upload and compare and Create a version automatically after job run. The sections Notification and Create a version automatically after job run are only displayed if the settings required for this have been made.
  6. Configure the Cognex Sensors Settings:
    1. Select the DataMan device class under Type.
    2. Under Project, select the configuration file Projectname.cfg from the dropdown menu.
    3. Enter the name of the device under Device.
    4. If necessary, change the port under Port. Port 23 is set by default.
    5. Enter the required access data under Users and Password.
    6. Under File specifications and compare settings you can configure the comparison of the project data. To do this, activate Enable custom configuration for this job and click the Edit button at. In the Settings for backup files dialog, you can add files for comparison and/or exclude them from comparison.

Info

The backup created is identical to the project created by DataMan. The result is suitable for disaster recovery and further processing.

Info

Detailed comparison cannot be carried out with the data generated by the editor. One possible solution is to create a new version from the backup and then perform a comparison of backup and version.

  1. Create a project via SetupTool and install it on the device.
  2. Create a Cognex DataMan component in the UserClient and check it in without a base version.
  3. Create a job for the empty Cognex DataMan component in the AdminClient and execute it.
  4. Copy the job result (Files_.CDC_.CFG_.CDC.TXT_.CFG.TXT) to the working directory and check it in as a new version.
  5. You can use this version to perform comparison with the subsequent backups.

If changes need to be made to the project files, repeat steps 1-4.

Info

You can implement further settings for jobs of this upload type in the AdminClient in the Global settings dialog and by using the INI files.
