MITSUBISHI MELSOFT GX Works2

MELSOFT GX Works is the development environment for FX, L and Q series controllers. It is part of the iQ Works Suite, but can also be purchased and used separately.

versiondog it supports both GX Works2 and GX Works3. The instructions in this tutorial only refer to GX Works2, GX Works3 is covered in a separate tutorial.

Operating system

  • The GXWorks application is a 32-bit application. On a 64-bit Windows operating system, you may receive an Error 101 message.

    In this case, uninstall the program at {Drive}:\Program Files (x86)\MELSOFT and reinstall it at {Drive}:\MELSOFT.

Service execution

  • The VDog MasterService or VDog UploadAgent must not be executed under the system account. Instead, they must run under a user account to ensure proper functionality.

MELSOFT GX Works installation

  • Installing a MELSOFT GX Works editor is mandatory for performing comparisons.
  • All editors starting from version 1.507D are supported.

Supported project types

  • versiondog supports GX Works projects of both the Structured Project and Simple Project types.
  • You can select the project type (Structured or Simple) when creating a new project in the MELSOFT GX Works editor.
  • Simple Project types can be uploaded successfully using the Do Not Compare comparison strategy.

    The Simple Project type cannot be directly compared because it cannot be exported in the MITSUBISHI editor.
