Configuring comparisons

When comparing a backup with the previous backup, it is important to know whether there has been a program change. If you only want to record the program changes, you must exclude the current values (number of units produced, the motor temperature, etc.) from the comparison process.

The values are only excluded from the comparison process but not from the backup. Please note that, depending on the server settings for backups, a new backup may only be created if a difference was detected during the comparison process.

To exclude current values from the Comparison process, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the AdminClient.
  2. Go to Jobs.
  3. Select the component whose values you want to exclude from the job.
  4. Select the job you want to edit.
  5. Activate the option Enable configuration of job-specific compare.
  6. Select Comparison configuration.
  7. Select the RSLogix 5000 project (see figure below).
  8. When excluding a routine, first enter the name in the Excluded routines field and select whether you also want to include or exclude the initial/current values of the variables from the comparison process.
  9. Enter the name of the variables to be excluded in the Variables field.
  10. Trends are excluded by default. Otherwise, deactivate the checkbox.

  11. Select OK.

  12. Save the changes to the Job.
