Creating jobs

In order for uploads to be carried out, versiondog must be able to access Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert. This means that the software should be installed on the same computer as the versiondog server.

If this is not possible, you need upload and compare agents to enable versiondog to access the computer on which Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert is installed. The agents must be installed before a job is created.

To configure jobs for devices configured with EcoStruxure Control Expert

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. Select your Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert component in the Project tree.
  3. Click on the Create button in the ribbon or drag and drop the component into the Jobs area.
  4. Check that the Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert upload type is displayed in the Job configuration area.
  5. Configure the general sections General, Notification, Upload and compare and Create a version automatically after job run. The sections Notification and Create a version automatically after job run are only displayed if the settings required for this have been made.
  6. Configure the access parameters on the controller with Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert settings.

    1. Select the Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert project from the Project dropdown menu. This option is only relevant if there is more than one EcoStruxure Control Expert project in the component.
    2. Select the protocol for communication with the device from the Access path dropdown menu.
    3. Under Device, enter the IP address or the name of the device.
    4. Enter the password under Application password with which the user can log in to the device.

      Info

The Application password is optional. If it is used, a corresponding configuration must also be done in both the Schneider EcoStruxure Control Export Security editor and in the configuration of the component for both upload and comparison to be successful.

      • An exception may be made, if a user needs to back up an older PLC but does not require a comparison. In this case, the Application password (which overrides the component configuration password) may be different.

      • In all cases, this Application password takes precedence if it is not empty.

To configure additional security, proceed as follows:

      1. In the Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert editor, go to the Policies tab and enable the Security options with login.

      2. Once this is done, a Username must be created, or selected in the Users and User Information tabs, given a password, and given necessary rights to Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert product functions (found under Profile(s) in the Users tab). This will allow an upload to be performed by that user.

      3. In the versiondog AdminClient, specify the same Username and Password by going to the Schneider Security Editor section in the Global settings module.

    5. In the Connection mode dropdown menu, select whether upload and comparison should be performed as before (Programming mode (backup)) or whether only a checksum comparison should be performed (Monitoring mode (checksum)).

If you select Monitoring mode (checksum), the signatures of the controller are compared with each other. Only changes are detected and the controller is displayed as changed.

      Info

No restore can be performed with the backup of a checksum comparison.

    6. Optional: If you also want to save the current values, activate the checkbox Save data from PLC to file. The data is stored in a DTX file.

    7. Optional: If you want to archive a simulator, activate the checkbox Upload from simulator.

Info

You can implement further settings for jobs of this upload type in the AdminClient in the Global settings dialog.
