Creating jobs

When working with SICK sensors, the files with the extension SDD for the devices that are to be backed up must be available on the versiondog server (or on an agent). You can download the SDD files from the device in SOPAS ET.

Info

Alternatively, you can copy the SDD files from a computer on which SOPAS ET is installed to the versiondog server (or to the agent). The default location for the SDD files is {ProgramData}\SICK\SOPAS\jars\devices. The location where versiondog searches for the SDD files can be modified in AdminClient.
In some cases, there is only one JAR file for the sensor to be backed up. In this case, you must copy the JAR file and change the file extension from JAR to SDD before proceeding.

To create jobs for Sick sensors

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. Select a SOPAS ET component in the Project tree.
  3. Create a job with the upload type SICK Sensors.
  4. Configure the general sections General, Notification, Upload and compare and Create a version automatically after job run. The sections Notification and Create a version automatically after job run are only displayed if the settings required for this have been made.
  5. Configure the Sick Sensors settings section. Under Project, select the project file that contains the connection parameters for the device.

    Info

versiondog supports both SOPAS and SDV files. A SOPAS file can contain connection parameters for several devices, an SDV file only for one device.

  6. Save the job and execute it.

Info

You can implement further settings for jobs of this upload type in the AdminClient in the Global settings dialog and by using the INI files.

Info

If several devices are backed up simultaneously with one job and an error occurs on at least one of these devices during job execution, versiondog issues a warning in the job result. If errors occur on all devices, the job is aborted with an error message.
