Microsoft Excel

The comparator of Excel supports the file formats xls, xls?, xlt, xlt? and csv. The question mark ? stands for all possible endings of the respective file format.

Requirement

  • To compare Excel documents, a licensed version of Microsoft Excel must be installed on the same computer on which the server or an agent is running.

Comparison of a component of type Excel that contains password-protected files fails

There are two ways to solve this problem:

Changing the configuration of the comparator

  1. Start the UserClient.
  2. In the Edit tab of the menu bar, select the Edit component configuration button.
  3. In the Component configuration dialog, select the Comparator configuration button.

  4. In the Comparison configuration dialog under Exclude lines from comparison, enter the password.

  5. Select the Exclude all non-displayable characters from entire comparison checkbox.

Creating a version without comparison

Alternatively, you can create a version without performing a comparison.

  1. Start the UserClient.
  2. In the Extras tab of the menu bar, select the Version without difference button.
