Adobe PDF¶

The comparator for Adobe PDF is integrated in the component types PDF and Documentation. The functionality for the PDF comparison is available by installing versiondog.

Note when using the PDF comparator¶

Problems with the PDF comparison may occur with large documents:

Loss of performance
Page allocation when inserting new pages. When inserting a new page, all subsequent pages are marked as different.

If the PDF document consists of several layers, it is possible that not all layers are recognized by the PDF comparator.

If you only want to backup PDF documents in your component, the PDF component type is recommended. When backing up documents that were created with different editors, the Documentation component type is recommended because it integrates also the Binary, ASCII, Excel, PDF and Word comparators.

If you want to create a component of the PDF component type, you will find it in the Adobe Systems directory.
