Creating jobs

When working with SICK sensors, the files with the ending SDD for the devices, that are to be backed up, must be available on the octoplant server (or on an Agent). You can download the SDD files from the device in SOPAS ET.

Alternatively, you can copy the SDD files from a computer on which SOPAS ET is installed to the octoplant server (or to the agent). The default data storage location for SDD files is {ProgramData}\SICK\SOPAS\jars\devices. The location where octoplant searches for the SDD files can be modified in the AdminClient.

In some cases, there is only one JAR file for the sensor to be saved. In this case, you must copy the JAR file and change the file extension from JAR to SDD before continuing.

The following parameters (current values) are excluded from the comparison:

To create jobs for Sick sensors:

  1. Start the AdminClient.
  2. Go to the Jobs module.
  3. Create a job with the upload type SICK Sensors.
  4. Configure the sections General and Upload and compare.

  5. Configure the section Sick Sensors settings.

In Project, select the project file (which contains the connection parameters for the device).

octoplant supports SOPAS files and SDV files. A SOPAS file can contain connection parameters for multiple devices, a SDV file can only contain connection parameters for one device.

  6. Save the job and execute it.

If several devices are backed up at the same time with one job and an error occurs with at least one of these devices during job execution, octoplant issues a warning in the job result. If errors occur for all devices that you are trying to backup, an error message will appear and the job will be cancelled.

You can make further settings for jobs of this upload type in the AdminClient by using the Global Job Settings dialog as well as the INI files.
