Server installation

This tutorial contains information on installing, moving, and uninstalling a octoplant server.

Before installing octoplant, ensure that the hardware and software requirements listed in the tutorial Installation requirements have been met. If these requirements are not met, the product cannot be installed properly.

A basic knowledge on the structure of the octoplant system and knowledge in the area of system administration is required.

Installation of octoplant server fails. What could be the reason for this?

If the setup routine runs smoothly at first, but then stops at a certain point and eventually fails, it's probably because of your antivirus program.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Disable the antivirus program on the computer where octoplant is to be installed.

  2. Execute the installation.

  3. Activate the antivirus program after the installation is complete.

If you want to create an exception for the installation of octoplant instead of disabling your antivirus program, ask us for a list of services and processes.

Before proceeding with this solution, create a backup of the entire server archive. This is because the tools change nearly every file in the server archive.

The necessary programs VDogArchiveCheck and VDogZipFileConverter are included in the server installation directory.

    VDogArchiveCheck.exe /RD:<vdServerArchive> /AT:S /ConvertZips /Account:versiondog /Password:{Password} [/Domain:{Domain}]
